Motorola DTR radio for Warehouse
Aug 2007

News Item Image

A Welshpool WA warehouse and logistic organisation has selected Motorola DTR digital "on-site" radios to co-ordinate its staff and operations over 3 warehouse buildings, office and open yard. Apart from the crystal clear benefits of digital radio, the DTR series provides flexible communications - enabling managers and supervisors to call all staff, or call individual staff members for private conversations. Operation in license free spectrum means no licensing costs and the DTR's frequency hopping spread spectrum technology means that outsiders can't listen into company communications.

Memo Communications trialled the new radio technology on-site to ensure that site coverage was achieved and that the right accessories were selected for maximum convenience of use.

Iron Ore Mine Wireless Data Links
Aug 2007

News Item Image

Mine operations require systems that are flexible and that can be relocated quickly to suit changing needs. Memo Communications has completed installation of wireless data links on a Western Australian Iron Ore mine to support changed business and mine requirements. Using a combination of Cisco 2.4Ghz and Motorola Canopy links, the solutions allows distribution of IP voice and data between various site offices and locations.

The initial survey conducted by Memo Communications indicated that short range links could be satisfactorily implemented using Cisco 802.11g 2.4Ghz equipment with suitable antenna systems. The longer range links were implemented using Motorola Canopy point to point equipment in the 5.8Ghz band due to higher resistance to fading and greater resilience to challenging RF and environmental conditions.

For Western Australia's RSPCA, the use of wireless laptops for data collection throughout the kennels is a timesaver and improves the care of the animals.

Memo Communications conducted a WiFi RF Survey in and around the kennel areas to determine which solutions would best meet the RSPCA's requirements. The latest AirMagnet tools were used to measure signal propogation, noise level, interference sources and other factors around the site. A detailed report was provided to the RSPCA detaling the results, and expert analysis, and suggested solutions for outdoor WiFi deployment .

Lone Worker Solution Improves Safety for Oil and Gas Producer
August 2006
